How does Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen gas generator work?
PSA N2 plant has two sets of adsorption columns filled with Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS). Alternate pressurization of these columns causes the separation of different gases and also, filtration of nitrogen by carbon molecules. Generated pure nitrogen is released from the generator outlet, whereas other gases are adsorbed. Once the first column is saturated, the process continues in the second column. Adsorbed gases are released into the atmosphere.
